A Prayer for Christmas
During the prayer time on Sunday morning, one person asked that we pray for inmates at the Work Release Center this week, as they will not be with family. It might be a hard week for them. That prompted someone else to ask that we pray for people in nursing homes, as they may be alone on Christmas. Another person asked that we pray for those in the military, stationed abroad – because they will not be with family on Christmas. What became apparent is the vast number of people that will be alone, or not with family, or grieving in some way on Christmas.
So, I invite you to pray this week. Pray for inmates that they may know God's presence on the day of Christ's birth. Pray for nursing home residents that they may get a glimpse of God's love this week. Please pray for service men and women around the globe, that God may protect them from harm. Pray for those who are hospitalized this week, that God may bring healing. Pray for all those who will struggle to experience the joy of Christmas.
And, then give thanks and glory to God for the gift of his Son.
May the love of God and the peace of Christ and the communion of the Holy Spirit be with you this week.
